October 14, 2026. The Office of Cannabis Regulation published the details of its Cannabis Industry Career Expo on Monday, October 13. The flyer sets the hours, confirms the two venues, and requires anyone taking part to be 21 or older.
The details
- St. Thomas and St. John. Monday, October 26, noon to 4 p.m., at My Brother’s Workshop on St. Thomas.
- St. Croix. Wednesday, October 28, noon to 4 p.m., at the DC Canegata Center.
- Age. Participants must be 21 or older.
- Contact. 340-714-9755 and info.ocr@ocr.vi.gov.
The flyer describes the event as a chance to meet hiring organizations, learn about current and upcoming positions, and hear about career paths in the industry. A QR code on the flyer leads to a Microsoft Forms page.
The dates and venues were first announced at the September 24 Cannabis Advisory Board meeting, covered in the September 24 board report. The times and the age rule are new with this flyer. St. John residents are grouped with the St. Thomas date, so attending means crossing to St. Thomas on a Monday afternoon.
What to bring, and what comes after
Executive Director Joanne Moorehead told the board that OCR is facilitating the expo rather than hosting it, because the office does not share licensees’ contact information and job seekers had been asking her staff how to reach the businesses building out. Licensees may interview on the spot. Moorehead encouraged anyone who has completed budtender or other cannabis courses to bring their certificates or photos of them.
A job offer is not the last step. No one can work in a licensed cannabis business without completing Responsible Vendor Training and holding a cannabis business agent ID card. Moorehead told the board the next training round is expected the third week of November, one session each on St. Thomas and St. Croix, with exact dates to come in OCR’s newsletter.
The age rule on the flyer is OCR’s requirement for the event. Separately, the Virgin Islands Cannabis Use Act sets 21 as the age for adult-use possession and purchase.
Who is hiring
The licensees expected at the expo are further along than they were in January. A Tier 1 grower on St. Croix holds the territory’s first commercial cultivation Certificate to Operate, issued September 24. Ten conditional dispensary licenses were awarded across the three islands on January 16, five on St. Thomas, three on St. John, and two on St. Croix. OCR’s September approved applicant list added seven more, including two St. Thomas dispensaries and two St. Croix cultivators.
The jobs behind those licenses run across cultivation, processing, testing, and retail. Current openings and hiring guidance are on the VIBE HIGH jobs page.
